Azhar Ali stars as Pakistan hold advantage over England

Azhar Ali demonstrates the revolutionary new shot - the overhead drive on his way to 92 not out

Azhar Ali and Mohammad Yousuf forgot to follow the script on day two of the third test against England at the Oval.

Struggling for consistancy all Summer, Pakistan would have been expected to surrender their day one advantage but instead the middle order showed some fight. Azhar Ali finished the innings unbeaten on 92 while there were useful contributions from Mohamad Yousuf (56), Umar Akmal (38) and first innings bowling star and nightwatchman Wahab Riaz (27). Pakistan were all out for 308 which gave them an 85 run lead.

England faced three tricky overs at the close of play and managed to lose Andrew Strauss (4) to be 3 for 1 when play resumes on Day three.

England will be hoping that Alistair Cook comes to the party and help to set a challenging target. Pakistan will not wanting to chase too many runs with Graeme Swann fresh from a 4 for 68 in the first innings licking his chops at the thought of bowling last on this wicket.
