Cameron Diaz tops list of ‘Google Bait’ for Virus Websites

Fatal attraction - not hard to see why the cyber-criminals use her as prime google bait

Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts and Jessica Biel have topped the list of stars most dangerous to search for on the web.

Computer security software maker McAfee have issed their annual list of the most dangerous celebrities to search for online. Cyber criminals are using the names as bait to lure people onto malicious websites, where at best the visitor will get an annoyng virus, at worst they might lose their online banking passwords or e-mail passwords.

Attaching famous people’s names to malicious sites is a well-worn ruse, to fool people looking at search results into thinking they’re heading to a legitimate site. To have your name used as ‘Google bait’ is some sort of backhanded compliment from cyber-scum. At least you know they rate you as a click magnet.

Other most-dangerous names to feature on the list were Gisele Bundchen, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nicole Kidman, Tom Cruise, Heidi Klum, Penelope Cruz and Anna Paquin.

McAfee used their technology for identifying malicous sites on the web to help compile their list. The research was done last month.

Have no fear of visiting Newswarped.com, there is no danger of us being famous enough to be attractive to cyber-criminals.
