Daniel Anderson sacked as Parramatta Eels coach

After guiding Parramatta to a Grand Final in his first season, Daniel Anderson has every right to look stony faced at his treatment this year.

Daniel Anderson was sacked as Parramatta Eels coach at an emergency board meeting at the NRL club last night.

After guiding the club to a surprise Grand-Final apperance in his first season in charge a 12th place this year finish did not cut the mustard with those that pay the bills.

The writing was on the wall for Anderson last month when Eels Chairman Roy Spagnolo guaranteed Anderson would see out the remaining year of his contract. Any manager/coach that is endorsed by mangement is imminent toast.

There were rumours Anderson was on the way out as the season drew to a close and it became apparent that the Eels were not going to make the play-offs. It is alleged that he is not the finest at communicating with players from different ethnic origins.

Parramatta CEO Paul Osborne did not help matters by very publicly approaching Melbourne assistant coach Stephen Kearney to ask him what the weather was like down in Victoria.

It is expected that Kiwi International coach Kearney will be announced as the new Eels coach within days. Just another day in Rugby League. Bring on the betting scandal.
