Pietersen announced his dropping to the world via Twitter before the official announcement was made. Kevin’s expletive laden Twitter version about his dumping was a lot more entertaining than the boring official announcement but it was promptly removed from the internet.
Pietersen also announced via Twitter that he was leaving hampshire to play for Surrey in the English County Championship. Having only played 11 times for Hampshire in 4 years he will probably not be missed.
A somewhat ruffled England and Wales Cricket Board later confirmed that what Kevin was swearing about was true. He was dropped and he would would play for Surrey for the remainder of the season.
Proving that Kevin is the centre of his own universe, his Twitter outburst comes only days after the ECB issued a warning to players about Tweeting sensitive or offensive information. Nice one Kev!
England play Twenty20 internationals against Pakistan on Sunday and Tuesday, followed by five 50-over international matches from 10-22 September.
As for the Pakistani team – they will probably all be dropped by then with only the team bus driver not being implicated in betting scams.
