Chilean miner surprised by mistress greeting above ground

Hey its great to see you Susana, but don't you think this is a bit public. There's like hundreds of TV cameras here.

Yonni Barrios, otherwise known as ‘Dr House’ by his trapped colleagues or miner No.21 to the rest of the world was stunned to find his mistress waiting for him at the top and not his wife.

When the mine collapsed in early August, wives and partners rushed to the site. Marta Salinas, Yonni’s wife for 28 years was surprised to find she was not alone in waiting in vigil for Yonni on the surface. Susana Valenzuela, Yonni’s mistress was also in attendance.

The worlds media had the perfect sideshow from the main mine rescue story. Who would be the one to greet Yonni when he came to the surface? Yesterday they got their answer when mistress Valenzuela threw her arms around the freed miners neck and kissed him.

Barrios himself stood stiffly as if stunned, probably not just because of the glare of daylight but by the absence of his wife.

Salinas had refused to come, she told reporters: “I am happy because he made it, it’s a miracle of God. But I’m not going to see the rescue. He asked me to, but it turns out that he also asked the other lady, and I am a decent woman. Things are clear: it’s her or me. I won’t even watch it on TV. Besides, in phone conversations and in the letters he has sent me it’s clear that he is fine, and that’s enough for me.”

It is safe to say that while many of the miners will be making up for lost time with loved ones, that Barrios might be spending some quality time with his wife explaining just what was so special about the other woman.

Perhaps he is already longing for the quiet days in the mine when he was a hero to his comrades, using his medical training to help keep everyone healthy.
