Matt Orford signs with Canberra Raiders

I missed the hot sun and golden beaches of Australia so I signed with Canberra.

NRL club Canberra Raiders have signed Matt Orford from Bradford on a one year deal.

The Raiders beat the New Zealand Warriors for the 32 year old half backs signature. Orford had sought a release from his UK Super League contract with Bradford Bulls.

The former Manly and Melbourne Storm star says “the Raiders are a team on the rise and the way they finished the season last year shows they will be in the running again in 2011.”

“They have some exciting young players coming through and it would be a fantastic opportunity to play alongside the likes of Josh Dugan, Jarrod Croker and Daniel Vidot.” And that dog that took a shine to Joel?

Canberra coach David Furner gave an inspirational quote saying “Matt’s proven over a number of seasons that he’s one of the most experienced and quality halves in the game.”

Good luck to you Canberra, you are going to need it.
