Ronaldinho rejects Blackburn for Brazil

I am so happy. 30 years old and clubs are still falling over each other to pay me millions of dollars - cool eh?

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has said that Brazilian football star Ronaldinho is rejecting Blackburn Rovers offer and returning to Brazil. “Ronaldinho has made a life choice by going to Brazil,” he said.

The 30 year old twice world footballer of the year was offered a three year deal with English, Barclays Premier League side Blackburn Rovers. The contract was reported to be worth 20 million pounds and was financed by Blackburns owners The Venky Group.

Ronaldinho looks set to join his home town club Gremio after falling out of favour at AC Milan and seeing little game time this season.

With Milan signing Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria this week, there is even less room for the former Barcelona star, both on the playing roster and the balance sheet.

On Tuesday, Blackburn revealed they had made a move for the playmaker and Venky’s, the company that bought Rovers in 2010, said its Brazil office was in talks with Ronaldinho’s manager.

“He is keen to play in the EPL [English Premier League] and I think that goes in our favour,” Venky’s chairperson Anuradha Desai said.

Newswarped thinks that a move to England is not out of the question. Money has a powerful effect on already mega-rich sporting stars. If it was Chelsea or Manchester United offering the contract then Ronaldinho would have signed already. Obviously neither he nor his manager think that Blackburn is worthy of a place on his CV.

Still if David Beckham can go to LA Galaxy then anything is possible if the money is right. The thought of playing a few seasons in the high profile English Premier League is an awfully large carrot for a player like Ronaldinho.
