Arsenal defeat Stoke – Fabregas and Walcott injured

A Sebastien Squillaci goal after eight minutes was enough to earn Arsenal a win over Stoke at Emirates Stadium in the English Premier League.

The win consolidates Arsenal in second place on the Premier League ladder, only a point behind Manchester United who have a game in hand.

But as welcome as three points are to Arsene Wenger, the sight of star players Cesc Fabregas (14 minutes) and Theo Walcott (71 minutes) limping off will have tarnished the victory a little.

Fabregas has strained a hamstring and will have it assesed on Thursday. Theo Walcott has sprained and ankle and will definitely miss Arsenal’s Carling Cup final against Birmingham City.
