Bernard Madoff claims investors were “greedy”

It was nice while it lasted. I want you all to know that when I get out of prison I will pay all of you back.

In an interview from jail, Wall Street Ponzi scheme scammer Bernard Madoff says that his victims were “greedy” and the U.S. government itself is a “Ponzi scheme.”

Inthe interview conducted with New York Magazine, Madoff claimed he was a “good person,.” and that “Everyone was greedy. I just went along. It’s not an excuse.”

Madoff claims he told investors they were better off investing in government bonds and that he warned them, “I could go crazy and do something stupid.” Well you certainly managed to do that Bernard.

Of his burned investors, Madoff said, “Now if you listen to [them,] they’re living out of Dumpsters and they don’t have any money, and I’m sure it’s a traumatic experience to some, but I made a lot of money for people. Does it justify it, no?”

Madoff explained how he launched his investment firm with only $500, only to see it turn into a Ponzi scheme in the early 1990s. After several years, he realized he wasn’t going to be able to get out of it, but continued to claim that his family members knew nothing about it.

The way Madoff talks, it is like he had this innocent investment firm that one day caught some financial virus and suddenly went all illegal on him.

“It was a nightmare for me,” he said. “Look, imagine going home every night not being able to tell your wife, living with this ax over your head, not telling your sons, my brother, seeing them every day in the business and not being able to confide in them.”

You poor bastard. Imagine having to put up with that massive mansion, servants and five star holidays.

Madoff’s empire came tumbling down in 2008, owing billions of dollars. He pleaded guilty in March, 2009, to running the Ponzi scheme and was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison.

Newswarped doesn’t claim to be a maths genius but by our reckoning Bernard only has 148 years to go before he gets released. Hope you like prison food Bernard.

Newswarped also doesn’t think that Madoff will be trying to break out of jail any time soon. There are two many people on the outside who would like to give him a slow painful death.
