Syrian Government resigns – Assad to address the nation

A Pro-Government protest rally in Syria. Close examination shows most of the crowd are school children. Just a hint of orchestration here?

The Syrian government resigned on Tuesday amid pro and anti government protests taking place across Syria.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad accepted the resignations Tuesday and a “new government will be named within hours” says Syrian Information Ministry spokeswoman Reem Haddad.

Haddad says that President Assad plans to make “a very important speech” to the nation on Wednesday. The speech will “reassure the Syrian people.”

Newswarped is not sure what President Assad will say to reassure the people or even what he is reassuring them about. Decades more of Assad family rule perhaps?

Despite many pro-government rallies taking place the clashes between protesters and security forces in Deraa and Latakia in recent days have claimed at least 37 lives according to the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
