Alitalia Hijacker overpowered by passengers and crew

What does a guy have to do to get a flight to Tripoli around here?

A man with a knife tried to hijack an Alitalia flight from Paris to Rome, demanding it be flown to Libya.

Witnesses said the man grabbed a female flight attendant from behind and held a small knife to her throat. Other crew members and passengers intervened and wrestled the man to the floor. He was arrrested on arrival at Rome airport.

Police say the man is a 48-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan who worked in Paris. Just why he wanted to fly to Libya is a mystery. The planes captain described the hijacker as “clearly agitated”.

Alitalia airlines said the man had “assaulted a flight attendant and asked that the plane be taken to Tripoli”.

The flight attendant was taken to a first aid station at Rome airport for treatment of minor injuries.
