Aircrash in Indonesia – 27 onboard, no survivors

A Merpati Airlines passenger aircraft has crashed into the sea in eastern Indonesia with up to 21 passengers and 6 crew onboard the Indonesian Transport Ministry says.

The Chinese made MA-60 50 seat turbo-prop plane was flying from Sorong city to Kaimana District in West Papua province.

Spokesman, Bambang Ervan said “An MA-60 aircraft crashed into the sea, some 500 metres away from the airstrip.”

“When the accident happened, the weather was bad with limited visibility.”

Update – Reports are coming through now that there are no survivors.
