Donald Trump ditches White House bid

Yes I am sure I would have won but I just didn't feel like running for president this time.

Billionaire real estate magnate and television personality Donald Trump says his unofficial campaign for the White House in 2012 is over.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Mike Huckabee’s withdrawl on the weekend. Of course neither candidate has been influenced in the slightest by Barack Obama’s resurgence in the poll’s since the death of Osama Bin Laden.

For a while there the Republican sharks were circling and preparring to fight each other for what was seen as an easy ticket to the White House against a lame duck Obama.

Trump says his decision followed “considerable deliberation and reflection” after weeks of an unofficial campaign.

“I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election,” Trump said in a statement, adding that he is “not ready to leave the private sector.” Not even if your country needs you Donald?

Donald Trump, made the issue of Obama’s place of birth a major platform of his would-be campaign, and since President Obama released his birth cetificate, Trumps poll ratings have tanked.

Trump’s support for the Republican nomination fell from 26 percent in April to just 8 percent in early May in surveys done by Public Policy Polling.

Speaking in New Hampshire last week, Trump expressed surprise at the public pummeling he has received since launching his potential candidacy.

Trump also suggested he will stay involved in Republican efforts to unseat Obama in 2012.

“I look forward to supporting the candidate who is the most qualified to help us tackle our country’s most important issues … and be the agent of change that this country so desperately needs,” Trump said in his statement.

“I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician’s thoughts.”

Yes one thing we are guaranteed with Donald is ‘loud’. George W Bush is the only US President in my lifetime who opened his mouth before he thought about what he was going to say. I am glad that Donald Trump is not going to be the second such President.
