Kates dress to meet Obamas’ crashes fashion retailers website

The President and First Lady of the United States and the second in line to the UK throne, but all the world cares about is the Duchess of Cambridge and what is she wearing.

Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge has sparked a fashion frenzy over what she wore to meet Michelle and Barack Obama.

Kate, looking elegant, slim and tanned as she met the Obamas was wearing an off the rack Reiss dress that retails for only $268.

The online demand was such that the Reiss website crashed an it took two-and-a-half hours to get it up and running again.

A spokesman for the Reiss said “unprecedented traffic” had caused the technical glitch.

Kate, 29, has been photographed wearing Reiss on a number of occasions and has become something of an unofficial ambassador for the high street label.

In her first official royal engagement as a newlywed, she donned a sophisticated knee-length camel-coloured shift dress called “Shola Bandage” which she teamed with an Anya Hindmarch clutch.

Reiss had to resort to posting messages on Twitter saying “Due to unprecedented demand, Shola mania has crashed our website! We are endeavouring to bring the Reiss brand back to you ASAP!”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge looked relaxed in their meeting with the Obama’s. If this is the level of interest generated for just one meeting it is scary to think what the upcominig royal tour by William and Catherine to Canada and the United States of America is going to turn into.

Listen Michelle it is the sound of websites crashing.
