Man United brush aside Schalke 04 to set up dream final

A win at Wembley on 28th May might just put a smile on the old boy's face.

Manchester United brushed aside the challenge of Bundesliga side Schalke 04 with a 4-1 (6-1 aggregate) victory in their Champions League semi-final at Old Trafford.

Schalke already two goals behind from their home leg, had to attack to have any hope. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side with eight changes from the team that lost to Arsenal in the Premier League last Sunday, took full advantage.

Antonio Valencia and Darron Gibson scored twice in five minutes of each other in the first half. After the break Jose Manuel Jurado scored for Schalke to give a tiny glimmer of hope, but two goals from Brazilian midfielder Anderson killed off the challenge.

It seems Schalke had used up all their giant killing power by knocking out reigning chapions Inter Milan in the qaurter-finals.

Manchester United now have a dream Champions League final against Barcelona at Wembley on 28th May.
