Osama Bin Laden was unarmed when shot says White House

Who lives in the big house? I dunnuo. It doesn't look suspicious with its high wall and screened off balconies.

The White House has said that Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was unarmed when he was killed by US Navy SEALS on Sunday after resisting capture, the White House has said.

Trying to feed the insatiable media desire for details about the US military raid that killed Bin Laden has led to rushed information and ambiguity.

On the one hand the White House says that Bin Laden was resisiting capture, but they are now saying he was unarmed.

What is quite clear in all the information released to date, is that this was a ‘kill’ mission not a capture mission.

There is no way that the US wanted a lengthy trial of Osama Bin Laden to provide him with an outstanding opportunity to spread his message for to the world in stretched out court proceedings.

There was also the possibility that the amount of hard evidence against Osama Bin Laden may not have been sufficient to convict him of anything warranting the death sentence.

It is a little far-fetched that the US Navy just happened to have someone on hand to give Bin Laden a Muslim send-off without prior planning.

It is also unlikely that the burial at sea action could have been decided ‘on the fly’. It had to be pre-planned.

Despite earlier announcements that Pakistani intelligence was involved in the raid, the CIA now admits that it did not tell Pakistan about the raid in advance over fears security leaks could jeopardise the mission.

Pakistan denies any prior knowledge of the raid – its intelligence agency says it is embarrassed by its failures.

Embarrassment is an understatement. The pictures and detail of the Bin Laden compound now released show a complex that is out of proportion to what is around it and obviously set up for secrecy.

For intelligence officers or even local police to at least knock on the door and ask who lives there followed by a thorough search if the least they could have done. Unless of course as many suspect, that friends in high places put the compound off limits to the security forces.

US officials are mulling over whether or not to release photo’s of Bin Ladens body to the media. CIA director Leon Panetta says there is “no question” the image would be released at some point.

With details of the raid cascading out like a soap opera plot, White House spokesman Jay Carney said Bin Laden’s wife “rushed” the first US Navy SEAL who entered the room where they were, and was shot in the leg but not killed.

On Monday, White House officials said the woman was killed in the firefight after Bin Laden used her as a human shield.

They later said one woman had died in the raid but had been “caught in the crossfire”. Either way I guess we can deduce the woman is dead. We may never know exactely how she died.

“We expected a great deal of resistance and were met with a great deal of resistance. There were many other people who were armed in the compound,” Mr Carney said.

Bin Laden himself then resisted the troops and was shot dead, but was not armed, he added. Newswarped is getting confused now. Did he resist them by abusing them like his wife probably did?

Regardless of the facts, it is fair to say that the United States has shown Osama Bin Laden the same amount of mercy that he showed to the passengers, office workers, police and firefighters on September 11 – none.

Newswarped does not normally condone the assassination of individuals without trial. Bin Laden’s case though I feel is an exception. He gave no quarter and expected none. He lived by the sword and died by the sword.

Regardless of what we think about Bin Laden’s beliefs, everyone would have to accept that he put his cards on the table a long time ago regarding his involvement in the campaign against America. Bin Laden always knew he would not die of old age in his bed.
