Peter Jackson announces Orlando Bloom to star in Hobbit films

Orlando Bloom returns to New Zealand shores once more. Does this mean he prefers being an elf to a pirate?

Sir Peter Jackson has announced this morning that Orlando Bloom will be joining the cast of the Hobbit movies to reprise his role of the elf Legolas from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Jackson said “Ten years ago, Orlando Bloom created an iconic character with his portrayal of Legolas.”

“I’m excited to announce today that we’ll be revisiting Middle Earth with him once more. I’m thrilled to be working with Orlando again.”

“Funny thing is, I look older-and he doesn’t! I guess that’s why he makes such a wonderful elf,” Sir Peter said.

The first Hobbit movie is set for release in December 2012 and the second for December 2013.

It seems the former stars of the Lord of the Ring films cannot resist returning where possible for the Hobbit. Jackson must be good to work with. There always seemed to be a lack of egos’ roaming around the LOTR films, whiuch is normally the New Zealand way of doing things. Newswarped suspects the Hobbit is more of the same.
