Sandow’s move to Eels upsets Rusty

Hard to imagine Sandow not wearing the Rabbitohs jersey. Also hard to imagine him as a slippery eel.

South Sydney Rabbitohs star halfback, Chris Sandow has signed to play for the Parramatta Eels in next seasons NRL.

Rabbitohs owner Russell Crowe is not happy about the move and complained on his Twitter account that Sandow had left for $550,000 a season.

Souths chief executive Shane Richardson joined the chorus of discontent saying ”Unfortunately for us he [Sandow] has met his Alan Bond.”

Sources in the Eels say the four-year contract is worth about $400,000 a season, including third-party deals.

Parramatta chief executive Paul Osborne said he would not discuss Sandow’s salary. He is upset about the sour grapes from Crowe and Richardson saying ”I was a little surprised. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and it’s not a way that we would have reacted.”

“The people involved need to have a look at themselves,” Osborne added.

Newswarped thinks that Crowe and Richardson getting a bit miffed at big money luring one of their star players away is a bit rich.

For a long time Souths had plenty of money but a lot of star players were not willing to play there. Souths had to pay top dollar to lure top notch players. We didn’t hear Souths complaining then. In fact they were positively croweing (sic).
