Seven US soldiers killed in Afghanistan by IED

Eight NATO soldiers have been confirmed dead after two improvised explosive devices exploded near them in southern Afghanistan. The Pentagon has confirmed that seven of the dead are American soldiers.

An International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) military official said the attack occurred in the Shorabak District, a remote area in the southeastern part of Kandahar Province, approximately 100 kilometres south of the city of Kandahar.

It is the same region in which Taliban forces unleashed multiple attacks earlier this month in their so-called spring offensive. US and Canadian troops are deployed in this area.
