Teen hitman kills young woman for $300

Gulistan Subasi - murdered for wanting custody of her son.

Gulistan Subasi opened the door of her London flat hoping her son was coming to visit her. Instead 15 year-old schoolboy Santre Sanchez Gayle was there and blasted her at point blank range with a sawn-off shotgun.

As Ms Subasi lay dying in her mothers arms, Gayle calmly got in a taxi and left. The murder was captured on CCTV footage but the police were unable to identify the hooded assassin.

Eventually Gayle boasted to a couple of associates and word eventually got to the police. Detectives were shocked to learn the hitman was a 15-year-old schoolboy, who was paid only £200 ($300) for carrying out the murder.

Gulistan Subasi, 26, lived in Turkey but had returned to London to see her son, who was living with relatives of her estranged husband.

Detective Chief Inspector Jackie Sebire said “When we saw the CCTV we all thought it was a professional hitman. There was no hesitation and he shows no nerves. It did not look like a 15-year-old boy.”

Ms Subasi was estranged from Serdar Ozbek – the father of her son. She was due to get married in Turkey that summer, and had mentioned regaining custody of her son. This was said to be the motive for the murder.

Yesterday Izaak Billy, 21, a member of the Kensal Green Boys gang and the one who convinced Gayle to carry out the hit was jailed for life with a minimum of 22 years to be served. He was paid only $3,000 for arranging for Gayle to carry out the murder, showing him the flat and possibly also supplying the murder weapon.

Santre Sanchez Gayle was also jailed for life and must serve a minimum of 20 years before considered for parole.

Previously Serdar Ozbek and two accomplices had earlier been found not guilty of murder. They might have been not guilty on the evidence presented, but it seems obvious to most observers where the real blame lies.
