Shinawatra led opposition sweep to victory in Thailand elections

And the Thai General Staff Choir sing to Yingluck with some help from Ry Cooder - "Little sister don't you do what your big brother done".

The party of exiled ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra which is now led by his sister Yingluck Shinawatra has won a massive victory in Thailand’s general election.

Provisional results show with 92% of votes counted, Ms Yingluck’s Pheu Thai party had won 260 seats, giving it a majority in the 500-seat parliament.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has conceded defeat to Yingluck Shinawatra who said there was “a lot of hard work ahead”.

Yingluck Shinawatra is becomes Thailand’s first female Prime Minister but she is a political novice. Her popularity has largely due to the fact that she is vowing to carry out her brothers policies.

Thaksin Shinawatra speaking from exile in Dubai, has said he wants to return to Thailand but will wait for the right moment, adding he was in “no hurry” to return.

Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha on Thursday stressed that he would stay neutral. However the Pheu Thai party are not their party of choice so it may only be a matter of time before the military get bored with the democratic charade in Thailand and put in charge whoever they want.

Their usual mode of operation is to create instability then come in and restore stability. It is an old but effective tactic that has been around as long as the military have dabbled in politics, which by newswarped’s reckoning is soon after the dawn of time.

There will always be some clown with medals he earned from behind a desk ready to take charge in Thailand. Nice beaches though. Just like Fiji which is a South Pacific tinpot dictatorship Thailand wannabe.
