British actor Rowan Atkinson has been taken to hospital after crashing his McLaren F1 super car last night.

The star of Blackadder and Mr Bean is believed to have suffered a shoulder injury in the incident on the A605 in Haddon, Cambridgeshire.

According to reports, the 56-year-old was driving his McLaren F1 super car when it spun around several times, ran into a tree and a lampost and caught fire.

Like it did that all by itself. He wouldn’t have crashed if he was driving Mr Beans Mini.

The actor is said to have walked from the vehicle and was with a passing motorist until emergency services arrived.

In true emergency management speak a spokesman from East of England Ambulance Service said “We were called to a single vehicle road traffic collision at 7.30 tonight on the A605 at Haddon.”

Giving it hos best shot in reply was a spokeswoman for the Cambridgeshire Police who said: “We can confirm that there was a single vehicle road traffic collision at around 7.30pm on the A605.”

Firefighters turned up and put out the fire. So that was one of their major kpi’s acheived for the night.

They also wheeled out a spokesperson of their own, but decided to be different from the other two with a spokeswoman. She said on behalf of Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue “Crews brought the fire under control by 8.13pm.” Hardly worth her turning out just for that.

But wait there is more, “They made the vehicle safe and used one hose reel to put out the fire. There was one casualty but he was not trapped.”

With all these spokespeople about there was no one to say anything on behalf of Rowan Atkinson.
